Leading healthcare lawyers Robert Campbell & Associates have announced they are to launch a new service aimed at assisting clients who are interested in overseas property investment.

Principal, Robert Campbell said

"It’s something of a labour of love really. We have investment property in the UK and these have done well. It is our perception now, however, that the property market here has peaked and we have been looking to invest in other property markets.

We are personally investing in Bulgaria and I am also looking at the South of France, as investment returns can be very attractive in both of these markets at present.

Bulgaria is becoming a hot destination for tourists from Western Europe and property prices have been soaring in recent months, yet property is still relatively cheap at present. Bulgaria is looking for EU membership in 2007.

France also offers good investment opportunities and we are looking particularly at buy to let in the festival areas where rental properties are at a premium and we have arrangements with a letting agency which will guarantee in some cases a 10% or more yield which, in addition to any capital appreciation, represents an attractive return particularly given the UK property scene at present. Many care homeowners will be sitting on substantial equity and they may wish to look at ways of unlocking some and investing it elsewhere, particularly now that the property market here appears to be beginning to head towards stagnation.

The theme behind our new department is to look for emerging markets and to try to help people invest safely in property there. There are many dangers for the unwary and, with our contacts and associates we will guide investors through the maze of regulations and requirements specific to the country concerned.

Recent TV programmes have highlighted problems that can arise (although, notwithstanding, the presenter’s message was to "look east" for value). In all cases that I have seen disaster could have been avoided had they taken proper advice and that is what our initiative is about.
